In weaving this piece, I wanted to emphasize what is (almost) always secondary to our eyes on a painted canvas: the relief/pattern of the fabric, on which the painter paints his images. I therefore started from two notes written in the description of the work "The unloaders in Arles": "in favor of a painting of more synthetic forms and more strident colors (...) with a thick and elongated brushstroke." and "the longitudinal marks produced by the way the canvas is rolled can be seen.". I chose to give priority to strong colors, represented longitudinally, synthetically, without any representation of the shapes/drawings present in the versioned work. The aim is to make visible the construction of the fabric and its dialogue with color.
